Averages can't price your car and your record. Tell us the basics of your policy and Guardbrook passes them to licensed insurance agents and insurers who can quote it; you decide whether to switch.
- 1 Your cars, drivers and current policy.
- 2 How agents can reach you, and your consent.
- 3 A licensed insurance agent or insurer contacts you with quotes. Your policy stays as it is until you decide to switch.
Guardbrook is not an insurance company or agency and doesn't sell, quote or bind policies. You pay Guardbrook nothing; the licensed insurance agents and insurers who contact you set their own prices and terms. How we make money.
How the calculator works
The per-mile cost is the base rate plus your monthly miles times the rate per mile. The break-even mileage is where it equals your current premium: (current premium − base rate) ÷ rate per mile.
Example: a $45 base rate and 6 cents a mile come to $93 at 800 miles a month, $57 less than a $150 policy. The two cost the same at about 1,750 miles a month.
What it leaves out
- Most per-mile programs stop charging after a daily mileage cap, so a long road trip costs less than the calculator shows.
- The base rate and the per-mile rate depend on the same things as a regular premium: your record, car and ZIP code. Use real quotes, not advertised examples.
- Mileage usually comes from a plug-in device or the car's connected services. Read what else the program records.
