General information, not advice

Everything on guardbrook.com is general and educational. It is not legal, tax, financial or insurance advice, and it does not take your situation into account. Guardbrook is not an insurance company, agency or broker and holds no insurance license, so it cannot advise you on your policy, your coverage or a claim. For that, talk to a licensed insurance agent, your insurer or your state insurance department.

Averages are not your price

The state figures on the site are averages published by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) for past years. They mix many drivers, cars and coverage choices. Your premium depends on your own driving record, car, ZIP code, coverage and the insurer’s rules, and it can be far above or below the average. A state’s place on the cost map says nothing about what any one insurer will charge you.

Calculator results are examples

The calculators do arithmetic on the numbers you type in. They do not know your insurer’s rules, fees or discounts, and their results are not quotes or offers. A result is only as good as the numbers you enter. The assumptions behind each one are on the methodology page.

Quotes come from others

If you send a rate-shopping request, any quote you receive comes from a licensed agent or insurer, not from Guardbrook. Guardbrook does not check, approve or stand behind those quotes. Read the offer and the policy documents before you buy.

Check the official source

Insurance laws, minimum limits, discounts and state programs change. We date every article and list its sources, but a page may be out of date by the time you read it. Before you act, confirm the rule with your state insurance department, the statute or your insurer. The editorial policy explains how we check and update facts.
